This light actually becomes red and continue on blinking as soon as the green and yellow lights show up. When the YLOD happens, it is an indication that the console is malfunctioning. This may be due to a number of factors, but based on the professionals, there are merely two main causes of this happening. Hardware Damage In the Console So as to connect the GPU and other parts to the motherboard, they should be soldered. If you are using your PS3 for long hours straight, it could overheat the hardware. This actually harms the console just like overheating could happen frequently, the solders will melt and only solidify after switching off the PS3. The motherboard won't be able to keep connection between the parts if the procedure keeps on repeating. This is considered as the most typical reason for PS3 yellow light of death.
