When you travel abroad it's pleasant to maintain that connection to home. If you determine to live or work there it can be even more significant. For me when I dwelt and worked in Turkey for 6 months there was really little I missed aprt from my favourite TV stations. I did not realise how much I'd miss the news, Newsnight, Match of the Day and merely the general documentaries and amusement on the principal TV channels.It's often said that British TV is some of the best in the world, but you know it really is true. Certainly there is some amazing shows and comedies on US TV but the price you pay is typically incessant advertisements breaks ever few minutes. Needless to say this is actually the age of the internet and all of the TV stations in Britain circulate the majority of their content online. BBC iPlayer and ITV player work extremely well and are very simple to use. At first glance it seems so simple, only fire up your notebook (or connect it to the TV) then you watch the BBC news everynight. However there's a grab, it does not work outside the UK, at didn't until I found this video about watching UK TV abroad
