What Causes Yellow Light of Death and How to Fix it?

A number of PS3 owners already dealt with the dreaded YLOD or the yellow light of death. Others also refer to it as the blinking red light and the red light of death because the green light after switching the PS3 on will become yellow, and later will be red and continue on blinking. Once the YLOD occurs, it is a sign that the console is malfunctioning. This has been due to two primary factors which were outlined by people who have been experts with using the console. Malfunction in the PS3's Hardware The GPU or chipsets is attached to the motherboard through the use of solders. It has a tendency to overheat once the PS3 has been working for a very long time. This actually harms the console because if overheating could happen often, the solders will melt and just solidify after switching off the PS3. This melting and re-solidification of the solders causes the hardware to break off from the motherboard. Should this happen, it often leads to yellow light of death.
